Fernando Verdasco will take on Ivan Ljubicic on Saturday for a place in the fourth round of this year’s French OpenYou can watch and bet on live streaming tennis at bet365Fernando Verdasco has made a good start to this year’s French Open, and is potentially just one win away from setting up a fourth round clash against world No. 1 Rafael Nadal. Verdasco wasn’t placed in a particularly forgiving part of the draw, and he’s managed to earn a berth in round three by securing successive four set wins against Juan Monaco and Xavier Malisse.
Verdasco’s third round opponent will be Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia. Ljubicic entered this competition as the world No. 37, and could be about to climb the rankings if he can maintain his form from his two opening matches. So far, Ljubicic has faced Somdev Devvarman and Sam Querrey, winning both contests in straight sets.
Prior to this match Ljubicic has a 2-1 head to head record against Verdasco. Despite this, both of Ljubicic’s wins against the Spaniard took place on hard courts. Verdasco’s sole win against the Croat occurred in a clay court match, though this was way back in 2004. Verdasco appears to be the favourite to win on Saturday, but this is a match that could go either way.
