Milos Raonic and Fernando Verdasco met for the second time in the last few days on Wednesday in the first round of ATP Memphis.

Milos Raonic and Fernando Verdasco faced one another in the first round of ATP Memphis with Verdasco, the 2 seed in the event, looking for a measure of revenge against his younger opponent. But Raonic, as he did over the weekend in San Jose, came away the victor against Verdasco as the Canadian survived a very tough match 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5).

With Raonic's title run last week in San Jose he may hit a brick wall in terms of fatigue soon. However, if his fitness level is high enough then he does have a reasonable path through the next three matches. Based on Raonic's current form he should be able to best Radek Stepanek in round 2 with a round 3 match against either Robert Kendrick or James Blake.

Perhaps Sam Querrey or Mardy Fish could beat Raonic as his fatigue levels increase however there is a possibility of a Andy Roddick or Juan Martin Del Potro vs. Raonic championship match brewing for the weekend.

In other results Juan Martin Del Potro dodged a first round bullet as he defeated John Isner in straight sets. Lleyton Hewitt also defeated Yen Hsun Lu in first round action as the Aussie looks to improve his ranking which is currently out at 70th.
