Fernando Gonzalez takes on Gael Monfils in what promises to be an explosive clash at the Rogers Cup.

Gonzalez who turned 30 last month has competed sparsely in 2010 and this is his first tournament since the French Open. He went out in the third round of the 2009 Rogers Cup and with quarter-final points to defend at the upcoming US Open he will be keen to at least equal last year's showing.
World number 18 Monfils has played one tournament, post-Wimbledon. He competed in Stuttgart last month, making the final but suffering an injury during that match.
They have played twice in the past with Monfils winning both matches in straight sets indoors in 2008. It is quite a clash of styles with Gonzalez one of tennis' most flamboyant attacking players with Monfils an athletic counter-puncher.
However given Gonzalez's layoff he will be rusty so Monfils is probably the best bet here.
