Stosur caused the first big upset of the WTA Championships on Wednesday when she took out top seed Caroline Wozniacki 6-4, 6-3 to throw the White Group wide open. With two wins out of two, the Aussie is poised to reach the knockout stages and if she beats Dementieva today she will top the group.
Stosur smashed 26 winners past Wozniacki and after a poor indoor season her game seems to be coming together at just the right time.
Dementieva suffered a 6-1, 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Wozniacki on Tuesday and she needs to win this one, probably in straight sets, to keep her slim hopes alive of qualifying for the knockout stages.
However that will require a very dramatic turnaround as the Russian's game was so wayward against the world number one two days ago.
Dementieva leads the head-to-head 4-2 but Stosur won a thriller 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 when they met at the US Open back in September.
The Aussie is our pick to win this one and qualify in top spot for the knockout stages.
