Elena Dementieva takes on Kateryna Bondarenko in round two of the Pilot Pen Tennis later today in New Haven.

Dementieva had few problems in the opening round, breezing past Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez 6-1, 6-2. The Russian has struggled over the past few weeks with a few tough draws but once she gets her game together, Dementieva can be a real force on the hard courts. She won the Olympic title two years ago on this surface and is of course a former US Open runner-up.
Bondarenko's 2010 has been largely spoiled by injury and she broke a five match losing streak with her first round 7-5, 6-3 win over Wimbledon semi-finalist Petra Kvitova.
Dementieva won their first four matches in straight sets before Bondarenko got revenge in Tokyo last year. However she does not look in the shape to do that again so the fourth seed should reach the last eight untroubled.
