Elena Baltacha is hoping to become the first British woman since 2002 to reach round three of Wimbledon when she plays Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens.

The British ladies number two overcame world number 33 Alona Bondarenko in the first round, and has beaten Flipkens on each of their previous two meetings.

"Thursday is very winnable for me," Baltacha admitted. 

"I have to play well but I feel really confident. It's so special here and I'd love to continue in the tournament." Baltacha continued.

Baltacha's run to the third round seven years ago has not been matched since by a British woman and victory over Flipkens would see Baltacha move a step closer to Sam Smith's feat of reaching round four in 1998.
