Dmitry Tursunov has clinched the UNICEF Open title with a straight sets victory over Ivan DodigYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP World Tour at bet365Dmitry Tursunov showed more than a few glimpses of his best tennis here in Hertogenbosch, and now has seven career ATP titles to his name following a 6-3, 6-2 win against Ivan Dodig in the UNICEF Open final. The Russian has a history of achieving some great results on grass, but will surely be delighted with his form this week given the injury struggles that he’s endured over the past two years.
Dodig put up a decent fight, but he didn’t manage to reproduce the form that had taken him to the final when it mattered the most. Regardless of this, the world No. 42 was gracious in defeat, remarking, “In the end, he was much better today on the court and he deserved to win.” The Croat also seemed content with his tennis this week, stating, “I was really enjoying it here, this tournament, and I’m very happy with the results.”
Tursunov was level headed in victory, and quick to point out that he hadn’t expected to have played this well having made a poor start to the season. “After being in tennis a long time now, I understand one week can be terrible and one week can be great,” commented the Russian. “I happened to do all the right things at the right moments this week and I won.”
