Following an unbelievable start to the season, Novak Djokovic is closing in on the No. 2 ranking spot

Novak Djokovic has been in unstoppable form this season, and has won all 15 of his matches so far. The Serb appears to be the man to beat at the moment, having backed up his Australian Open success with a title in Dubai. To add to this, he’s dominated his opponents so far in Indian Wells, securing a bagel in each of his contests.

A spectacular 6-0, 6-1 victory over rising star Ernests Gulbis in round three was backed up by a second 6-0, 6-1 win, this time against Davis Cup teammate Viktor Troicki. Following from these results Djokovic will now face Richard Gasquet in the final eight, and will set up a meeting with either Roger Federer or Stanislas Wawrinka in the semi’s if he wins.

Given that he’s on Federer’s side of the draw, Djokovic will climb to second in the world rankings if he reaches the final. Federer will no doubt be aiming to get back at Djokovic though, following two successive straight sets defeats against him this season.
