Nikolay Davydenko has qualified for the ATP World Finals.

Despite losing his third round match in three sets to Robin Soderling, Davydenko has now qualified for the ATP World Tour finals in London.

Davydenko faced an anxious wait but once Fernando Verdasco lost to Marin Cilic, the Russian could be sure of his place as he can’t now be overtaken this week.

Davydenko hasn’t had an outstanding year by any stretch particularly in the slams and was nowhere near contention after the US Open but he’s been one of the form players this autumn. His renaissance has seen him claim titles in Kuala Lumpur and the Shanghai Masters.

On current form Davydenko stands a decent shot at the title in London. Apart from Djokovic, no one is in great form at the moment. Andy Roddick hasn’t played for weeks and there are question marks over the sharpness of Nadal and Murray. Last year Davydenko made the final in Shanghai, taking advantage of a jaded looking Murray to grind out their semi-final before coming up short against Djokovic.

Davydenko is 10/1 with sporting bet to win the title in London. Roger Federer is the big favourite at 11/4.
