The Spanish have been the most formidable Davis Cup side of the new millennium, winning the competition an incredible five times since 2000. No other country can rival their strength in depth and when you can field Rafa Nadal and David Ferrer as your top two players, you're going to be tough to beat on any surface.
Argentina face a daunting challenge as they travel to the Olympic stadium in Seville. Surprisingly they have never won the Davis Cup, finishing runner-up in 1981, 2006 and 2008. The last of those defeats was a particularly painful one. With David Nalbandian and Juan Martin Del Potro leading their country out in Bueno Aires against a weakened Spanish side, fans had every reason to believe that the drought would finally end.
However Fernando Verdasco inspired Spain to a famous win that weekend and both Nalbandian and Del Potro will be determined to make amends.
Much will depend on the form of Nadal. He struggled at the ATP World Tour Finals last week, looking jaded as he crashed out in the group stages but he's a different proposition on his beloved clay and if he can win both singles rubbers, Spain will be virtually home and dry.
