Russia trail 2-1 going into the final day after defeat in the doubles and they will be hoping Davydenko can find some form somewhere to give them a chance. The Russian will need to bounce back after two defeats in a row.
 
He was outplayed by David Nalbandian, losing the opening rubber in straight sets and proved a liability alongside Igor Kunitsyn in the doubles, losing his serve five times in their four set defeat.
 
Fortunately for Davydenko, Mayer does not enjoy playing indoors and was on the receiving end of a 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 hammering from Mikhail Youzhny on day one.
 
It will not be pretty but expect Davydenko to turn in a trademark gritty performance and take this tie down to the final rubber.
