Mikhail Youzhny takes on David Nalbandian in the fifth rubber of Russia’s quarter-final Davis Cup tie against Argentina.

This is likely to decide the tie which is an exciting prospect as both men were in excellent form on day one. Nalbandian made light of his two month absence from the tour, defeating Nikolay Davydenko 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 while Youzhny had far too much power for Leonardo Mayer, crushing the Argentine 6-3, 6-1, 6-4.
 
Youzhny had plenty of experience of sealing Davis Cup ties for Russia. He won the  decisive rubber against India earlier this year to book their place in the last eight.
 
Youzhny leads 2-1 on the head-to-head though both his wins came six years ago on the North American hard courts. Nalbandian won 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 a couple of months ago in Monte-Carlo.
 
Both players excel indoors, Nalbandian in particular has won all the big indoor titles in the game and if he was fully match-sharp he would be favourite here but he isn’t so it could be worth backing Youzhny to deliver again for Russia.
