Janko Tipsarevic looks to clinch Davis Cup victory for Serbia over Sweden as he takes on Michael Ryderstedt in the opening rubber of day four.
Tipsarevic enjoyed a fairly easy victory on day one as Ervin Eleskovic was forced to retire at 6-2, 1-0 down after overextending his knee while stretching for a return out wide.
That gave Serbia a 2-0 lead and many thought it was game over with Novak Djokovic and Nenad Zimonjic to come in the doubles. However the vastly experienced pairing of Simon Aspelin and Robert Lindstedt produced one of their finest ever Davis Cup performances to keep Sweden in the tie.
It's now up to Ryderstedt to see if he can cause the upset. The big serving leftie made a decent debut on day one, pushing world number 16 Viktor Troicki hard in a gripping four setter. Everyone knew Ryderstedt is far better than his ranking of 297 but no one expected the kind of comeback he produced from two sets to love down, winning the third set in a tiebreak and serving to level the match in the fourth set before a relieved Troicki eventually prevailed 6-3, 6-1, 6-7, 7-5.
Ryderstedt will believe he has even more of a chance against Tipsarevic and expect him to come out all guns blazing. However Tipsarevic is a very experienced character and look for him to seal the victory in four sets.
