Andy Roddick and David Ferrer clash in a crucial Davis Cup rubber on day one of the USA's quarter-final with Spain.
Roddick has a phenomenal Davis Cup record, winning 33 rubbers and losing just 11 since he first competed back in 2001. However his only losses in the competition since 2006 came three years ago as the United States were completely outplayed by a rampant Spanish side. Ferrer came from two sets to one down to defeat Roddick in five sets back then.
However that tie was held on Spanish clay and things will be rather different this weekend as the Americans have laid as fast a indoor surface as they can, in a bid to counter the in-form world number six.
Ferrer leads the head-to-head 4-3 and has beaten Roddick indoors and outdoors since they first met back in 2005. He's also been enjoying one of the best seasons of his career, making the Aussie Open semi-finals in January, while Roddick has been disappointing.
However you can never count Roddick out, particularly in the Davis Cup and he will be desperate to prove a point today, particularly just after that devastating straight sets loss to Feliciano Lopez at Wimbledon.
