Nalbandian looks set to be a very dangerous floater in the big tournaments over the next few weeks in Canada and the States. The Argentine blitzed through the first three rounds this week, barely breaking sweat against quality opposition. He did not play so well in Friday's quarter-final against Gilles Simon, a scrappy 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win for Nalbandian, both players struggling to recapture the brilliant form they had shown in the third round.

Nalbandian had all the chances though, 18 break points in all and he was a deserved winner. He has only played Cilic once before, four years ago in the Davis Cup where Nalbandian crushed his young opponent 6-1, 6-1, 6-2. However, much has changed since then, Cilic is now in the top ten and a serious force in world tennis.

The Croatian was teeing off with some fearsome forehands during his 7-6, 6-4 win over Janko Tipsarevic, bringing back memories of his tennis at Flushing Meadows last year.

This will be a tight match and the winner will be favourite to take the title. Our prediction is Cilic in three.
