James Blake looks to continue his stunning run at the Stockholm Open against David Nalbandian in today's quarter-finals.
Going by the form shown so far by both these veterans, we should be in for a treat tonight. Nalbandian was on fire on Thursday night, crushing seventh seed Ivan Dodig 6-1, 6-1 - a masterclass of returning against the big Croatian.
He'll need similar tonight to deal with the firepower of Blake who stunned second seed Juan Martin Del Potro 6-4, 6-4 on Wednesday.
This is my best win in the last three years I'd say," Blake enthused afterwards. "I played some of my best tennis and I'm really proud of it... He's going to be a great champion for many years so I'll be proud of this one for a long time. I felt coming into Stockholm, I had some confidence. The body feels good for a change. We had a tight match earlier in the summer and the breaks just went my way today."
It was his first win over a top 20 player this season and avenged a couple of tight losses to the Argentine in the past. At his best Blake won back to back Stockholm titles in 2005 and 2006 and with the bottom half of the draw wide open, he'll be fancying his chances.
