David Ferrer looks to seal his place at the top of Group A as he takes on Tomas Berdych at the ATP World Tour Finals.
Ferrer produced one of the standout performances of the autumn on Wednesday night as he stunned world number one Novak Djokovic 6-3, 6-1. It was barely a contest as Ferrer outhustled the top seed simply proving too quick and too consistent.
"I am very motivated," Ferrer said after his second top four win of the event. "I am in the semi-finals. I want to enjoy this moment. I don't want to think about the semi-final on Saturday. I think maybe today was my best match of the season. I felt good before the match. Maybe the key was in my serve. The last times against Nole, I haven't served really good."
Ferrer has already booked his place in the semi-finals while Tomas Berdych is fighting to keep his chances alive. The Czech has been involved in two humdingers so far this week, missing match point against Novak Djokovic and saving match point to beat Janko Tipsarevic with both matches needing final set tiebreaks to decide the outcome.
Ferrer leads 5-2 on the head-to-head and has won their last four matches but they have played just once in four years. This one will be interesting as while Ferrer's results this week have been impressive, both Djokovic and Andy Murray have been decidedly below par. Berdych in contrast, is playing his best tennis of the season.
Prediction: Berdych to win in three.
