David Ferrer and Jurgen Melzer will face off on Saturday for a place in the final of the Monte Carlo Rolex MastersYou can watch and bet on the action from the ATP Monte Carlo Open at bet365David Ferrer has wowed the fans here in Monte Carlo with three consecutive straight set wins. The fourth seed has only lost 12 games in three matches, and all of these matches were against highly rated opponents. He will now take on Jurgen Melzer for the chance to face either Rafael Nadal or Andy Murray in the final.
Melzer continued his fine run of form with an excellent 6-4, 6-4 win against world No. 3 Roger Federer. Melzer had entered the match as the underdog, but since losing his first set of the tournament has been unstoppable. Given that he defeated clay court maestro Nicolas Almagro prior to beating Federer, Melzer appears to be a genuine contender for this week’s title.
Ferrer has a 3-2 head to head record against Melzer, though Melzer has won the last two meetings between the pairing. Melzer won his last clay court matchup against Ferrer in straight sets at last year’s French Open. Ferrer has been superb throughout 2011, but he’ll have to produce a first rate performance to deny Melzer.
