Caroline Wozniacki takes on Vera Zvonareva in the US Open semi-finals later today.

There was plenty of hype about Wozniacki going into this tournament after the three titles she picked up last month but the Dane has lived up to her top seed status with a series of brilliant performances to take her into the last four without dropping a set. Much was made of Wozniacki's lack of firepower but when you're as fast and as hard to break down from the back of the court as she is, you don't always need the big shots as Maria Sharapova found during her straight sets defeat to the Dane in the last 16.

This will be a fascinating clash as Zvonareva is also enjoying the best season of her career and has now reached at least the semi-finals at three of the four slams. The Russian has eased through the rounds, seeing off Kaia Kanepi 6-3, 7-5 in the last eight.

These two are 2-2 on the head-to-head but crucially Wozniacki won 6-3, 6-2 a couple of weeks ago when they met in the Montreal final. In a match as big as this, she is likely to be just that bit more composed and that could make a lot of difference.
