Caroline Wozniacki gets her Indian Wells campaign underway against young American Sloane Stephens.
Stephens is one of the most promising juniors in the States. The 17 year old made the US Open girls semi-finals last year and is ranked in the top 200 on the main tour. She took full advantage of her wildcard with a 6-2, 6-4 first round win over fellow starlet Jamie Hampton.
Always positive, the teenager is relishing the opportunity to take on the world number one today. "I love the courts here at Indian Wells. I love everything about it here," she said. "Caroline is a really great girl. We always talk - she's so nice. It's good to have that connection. But it'll definitely be a competitive match. It'll be fun."
You have to love Stephens' confidence but it's hard to imagine Wozniacki being too concerned. The Dane took a big step on her route to the top of the rankings at this tournament last year, making the final. After reaching finals at both the WTA Premier events in the Middle East last month, everyone expects big things from her in the desert.
