It's the match-up we've all been waiting for since the women's draw came out. The young pretender Wozniacki in the form of her life against the experienced former champion Sharapova on the comeback trail.

Wozniacki has barely broken sweat in any of her matches. She's conceded an almost unbelievable three games on her way to the last 16. Sharapova started slowly but has also hit form just in time, handing out a double bagel to poor American teenager Beatrice Capra on Saturday.

The event could do with an explosive showdown between these two tonight. There have been few classic encounters so far and everyone is hoping this one live up to its billing.

Wozniacki may have reached the final last year but she had by all accounts, a kind draw. She needs to prove she can defeat a big name at the business end of a slam. Sharapova's big first serve, intimidating returns and powerful hitting will provide a serious challenge.

However Wozniacki has the best defensive game on tour and her double-handed backhand is as solid as a rock. Sharapova will need to string together four or five big shots, time and time again to hit the Dane off the court. Plus Wozniacki has the returning ability to put pressure on Sharapova's wobbly second serve if the match gets tight.

It promises to be a classic and the winner will probably reach the final. We're going for Wozniacki to take it in three desperately close sets.
