Caroline Wozniacki will begin her title defence in Beijing on Sunday with a first round clash against Lucie HradeckaYou can watch and bet on the action from the WTA Beijing Open at bet365Caroline Wozniacki is the defending champion at this year’s China Open, and she’ll need to at least go deep here in order to stay well clear of her rivals at the top of the WTA rankings. The Dane made an early exit at last week’s Toray Pan Pacific Open, but should be capable of bouncing back here in China.
Wozniacki was involved in a well contested three setter in last year’s final against Vera Zvonareva, which she eventually won 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. This victory enabled her to replace Serena Williams as the world No. 1, marking the beginning of a lengthy and almost uninterrupted spell at the top.
Wozniacki’s opening match will take place on Sunday. She’s scheduled to meet Lucie Hradecka of the Czech Republic. Hradecka’s recent form at WTA level has been very disappointing, and she’s had most of her success this year at ITF events. Unless Hradecka raises her game, Wozniacki will sail through in straight sets.
