Caroline Wozniacki takes on Jelena Jankovic in the BNP Paribas Open final in Indian Wells.

Both players have recovered well from fairly unauspicious performances in the early rounds. Jankovic was particularly struggling for form coming into the tournament and she came close to the wire in the third round against Sara Errani.

However she has got better as the week has gone on, taking apart the big serving Sam Stosur 6-2, 6-4 in the semi-finals. Stosur had simply no answer to Jankovic’s powerful and accurate returning.  

Wozniacki also looked very impressive in her semi-final, defeating fifth seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-3.

However, previous matches do not augur particularly well for Wozniacki’s chances. Jankovic leads 3-0 on head-to-heads and won 6-2, 6-2 at the WTA Championships in November.

Jankovic definitely has the edge in experience, this is her 23rd WTA tour final but Wozniacki is comfortable with the big stage having been in the US Open final so that should not be a factor.

Both players have very similar games, both baseline hustlers who move well and scrap for every point.

Wozniacki is rated as the slight favourite at 8/13 with bet365 but given the head-to-head record it may be worth going for Jankovic at 5/4 also with bet365.
