Dementieva has not been in the best of form this summer but she has been determined to get as many matches as possible ahead of the US Open and she's shown plenty of fight to battle through two three hour marathons to reach the last four. After her second round slog with Kateryna Bondarenko, Dementieva was taken the distance again by Marion Bartoli, eventually seeing off the sixth seed 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
"I wanted to play some matches here. Sometimes you have to go through difficult matches to feel your game and your confidence," Dementieva said.
However this one may be a step too far. Wozniacki has been red hot over the past few weeks, winning the Copenhagen and Montreal titles. She will also be the fresher of the two after not even needing to strike a ball in yesterday's quarter-finals, Flavia Pennetta pulling out with a foot injury ahead of the match.
However Dementieva leads the head-to-head 3-2. They played three times in 2009 - Wozniacki won in Miami and Charleston but Dementieva secured an emphatic 6-2, 6-1 win in Cincinnati.
