Wozniacki made a strong point to her doubters with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Maria Sharapova in a fourth round clash which proved to be one of the most entertaining matches at the tournament so far.

The Dane was not particularly aggressive, occasionally taking the ball on with her backhand in the second set but she did not need to be as her defensive durability withstood everything Sharapova could throw at her. It was the performance of a potential grand slam champion and we will see whether she can achieve that on Saturday night.

Cibulkova should not prove too much of an obstacle. The Slovak had a fantastic win over Svetlana Kuznetsova in the last round, displaying increased power off her forehand and the ability to seize the initiative off the return. However she plays a similar game to Wozniacki but the Dane just does everything better.

Wozniacki is just as fast, more consistent and has a better serve and backhand. They have played twice in 2010 and it has not been that close, Wozniacki winning 6-2, 7-6 in Dubai and 6-4, 6-1 in New Haven.
