Caroline Wozniacki gets Denmark's Hopman Cup campaign underway on Monday against American Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
Wozniacki may have been world number one for the majority of the past two seasons but she's a bit of a slow starter during these early weeks of the year. She's lost first round in Sydney for the past two years and will be hoping for more success in the less pressurized atmosphere of the Hopman Cup.
Denmark will be hoping Wozniacki can perform this week as without her they don't have too much chance. Freddy Nielsen may be a solid pro on the futures tour but he's likely to be out of his depth against the likes of Mardy Fish and Tomas Berdych.
This is a must win rubber for Wozniacki and Mattek-Sands will not be easy to overcome, she's improved hugely over the past few years. She would be higher than her current ranking of 55 if she hadn't have been kept out since the US Open with injury.
Wozniacki has won both their previous matches and it was 6-2, 7-5 when they met at the Sony Ericsson Open in March.
Prediction: Wozniacki in two.
