Caroline Wozniacki bids to make the final of her home tournament when she plays Anna Chakvetadze in Saturday's second semi-final.

Wozniacki suffered a major scare in Friday's night match and only snuck into the last four by the narrowest of margins. Up against the in-form Julia Goerges, Wozniacki found herself a break down in the third set and then the German served for the match at 5-3. However the Dane hit back to force a tiebreak and was very relived to seal a 3-6, 6-0, 7-6 win.

Wozniacki will have to be a lot better against former world number five Anna Chakvetadze who is finally finding her form after dropping down to outside the top 100. The Russian won the Portoroz title a couple of weeks ago and has not dropped a set this week.

Chakvetadze eased past sixth seed Polona Hercog 6-4, 6-3 in the quarters though she was still unhappy with the number of errors she had made.

Wozniacki has won both her previous matches against Chakvetadze, both in three sets in 2008 including a 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 win in the New Haven final.

However the Russian is relishing the opportunity to test herself against the world number four. “I need to play a Top 10 player to see how close I am,” Chakvetadze said. “I've lost to Caroline twice and never beaten her; we haven't played for two years and I'm sure she's improved since then. I'll try to play my best and enjoy it."
