Caroline Wozniacki goes for a place in the quarter-finals of the BNP Paribas Open against Alisa Kleybanova.
Wozniacki faces a major test today in her quest to reach the Indian Wells final for the second straight year. Kleybanova is a renowned giant-killer and she stunned Kim Clijsters at this tournament last year so Wozniacki will be very wary especially after the Russian's performance in the last round where she outplayed Flavia Pennetta 6-3, 6-4.
However, Wozniacki enjoyed an impressive third round result herself. She sealed a confidence boosting 6-1, 6-3 third round win over the wily Spaniard Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez, a player she had never beaten before.
"It helped me she didn't get too many first serves in, so I could dictate. As long as I kept her on the baseline, I felt I was in control," the world number one said. "She's such a good volleyer. Yesterday I had a practice session in the morning where I focused on the main points, and not to panic when she comes to the net."
Wozniacki has won both her previous matches with Kleybanova, two comfortable straight sets wins back in 2009.
