Caroline Wozniacki has received the ITF World Champion award for 2010.
The Danish player did not break her Grand Slam duck but she stormed to the top of the women's rankings with some impressive results, winning six titles on the tour. She claimed three WTA Premier titles in Montreal, Tokyo and Beijing, seeing off elite fields and reached the final of the end of year WTA Championships, losing to Kim Clijsters.
Her best performance in the slams was a semi-final run at the US Open and until she wins that first major, the critics will continue to have their say.
However Wozniacki should still be applauded by her remarkable consistency and given the sheer rate of her improvement over the past couple of seasons, one of the four majors should be well within her reach in 2011.
"To be listed with all the former ITF World Champions is something I am really proud of," she said.
"I had a great year in 2010 and I'm training hard to have an even better year in 2011."
