Caroline Wozniacki needs just a couple of wins this week to finish 2010 as world number one.

Wozniacki is top seed and favourite for the WTA Championships title in Doha this week though the Dane will face tough competition, in particular from US Open champion Kim Clijsters.

However if she wins just two of her round robin matches she will finish 2010 at the top of the rankings. It's a very realistic scenario given she's in the weaker Maroon Group along with Elena Dementieva, an out of form Sam Stosur and clay-courter Francesca Schiavone.   

Vera Zvonareva is the only player who can push the Dane off the top spot but Zvonareva will need to win all of her round robin matches to stand a chance as if she slips up, just a single win for Wozniacki will suffice.

Wozniacki is full of confidence after a year which has seen her win six titles, including the Tokyo and Beijing crowns earlier this month.

"Of course, now I'm the player to beat. It's just a nice feeling - it's nice to know that I've done so good that I'm the number one player in the world. That's a fantastic feeling," she said.
