Carlos Berlocq will face the challenge of Gastao Elias in the final of this year’s Buenos Aires ChallengerYou can watch and bet on the ATP Buenos Aires Challenger live for free at bet365 > live tennisCarlos Berlocq produced an outstanding display on Saturday in the semi-finals of this year’s Buenos Aires Challenger, cruising past fellow countryman Maximo Gonzalez in front of a home crowd. Berlocq’s return game was superb throughout, and he broke Gonzalez ten times on his way to a 6-3, 6-1 success.
Next up for Berlocq is Gastao Elias of Portugal. Elias had been drawn against the experienced Brazilian Julio Silva, and he pulled through with a retirement victory after just over an hour of tennis. Elias had been winning 6-0, 2-2, and was worthy of a place in the final. Silva didn’t seem to be encountering a huge deal of physical pain during the first set.
Berlocq is ranked over a hundred places above Elias in the ATP World Rankings, and he’ll be the favourite to win this title. The backing of the Buenos Aires crowd should also work in his favour. That said, it would be a little unfair to rule out his 20 year-old opponent. Elias has climbed the rankings rapidly this year, and he’s starting to demonstrate his potential.
