British number four James Ward was unable to cause a first-round upset as he went down to an impressive Fernando Verdasco in three sets.

The 22-year-old Ward from Middlesex had moments where he put his seventh-seeded opponent under pressure but Australian Open semi-finalist Verdasco used his experience against his British opponent to secure a 6-1 6-3 6-4 victory.

Verdasco is now preparing to face fourth seed Novak Djokovic in the next round. You can watch free live streams of over 200 matches from Wimbledon with Bet365's live streaming service.

Verdasco will be hoping that he can get into the last 16 at Wimbledon for the first time of his career while Ward will be hoping to use the experience he gained at Wimbledon to target a place in the world top 100.
