Home favourite Thomaz Bellucci is in the form of his life having just won the Movistar Open in Santiago.

Bellucci had a brilliant week in which he ended Fernando Gonzalez’s long-standing winning streak at the tournament, beating the world number 11 in the semi-finals before taking out second seed Juan Monaco in a tough three set final.

Bellucci was runner-up here last year to Tommy Robredo and as third seed he’s a decent bet to go all the way this week. Paddy Power are offering odds of 4/1 on Bellucci winning the title.

Alves actually leads their head-to-head 2-1 and he won their last match back in 2008 in the San Paulo challenger. However all those matches were on the lower levels of the tour and Bellucci’s rise has been meteoric over the past two years.
