Ungur is in the main draw on a wildcard but he enjoyed the best win of his career on Tuesday, stunning seventh seed Andreas Seppi 3-6, 7-6, 6-4. Seppi was two points from the match at 5-5 in the second set tiebreak but couldn't close it out.
He now has an excellent chance to reach the quarters as Phau is definitely beatable. The German survived a scare to get past qualifier Albert Ramos-Vinolas 1-6, 6-4, 6-0.
They have played once before, two years ago in French Open qualifying with Phau winning comfortably in straight sets. However the home crowd may give Ungur the edge this time.
