Fearless teenager Bernard Tomic takes on world number six Tomas Berdych at the Kooyong Classic on Wednesday.
19 year old Tomic isn't afraid to mix it with the best and he's relishing the chance to get a pop at some of the best in the world at the Kooyong Classic this week. Tomic is aiming for a place in the top ten this season and he began 2012 brightly, reaching the Brisbane semis before losing to Andy Murray.
With few other Aussie male hopes to focus on, Tomic is getting the bulk of the press attention right now but he insists he's unfazed by the attention.
''Just a round at a time, that's how I look at it,'' said Tomic. ''I looked at it differently growing up, and when you grow up you always think you can do as well as you can in tournaments. But now it's one by one, everyone can play tennis and you've got to beat the guy on the court on the day.''
Berdych will be quietly confident of a strong run in Melbourne after some fine displays at the Hopman Cup last week where he won all four of his matches, helping the Czech Republic take the title.
Prediction: Tomic to rise to the occasion but Berdych to win in three
