Thursday’s action at the Paris Masters has resulted in ATP World Tour Finals qualification for Tomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Andy RoddickTomas Berdych, David Ferrer and Andy Roddick have secured qualification for the ATP World Tour Finals in London due to Thursday’s early results in the Paris Masters. Andy Roddick boosted his qualification chances at the beginning of the day with a 6-3, 7-6 win against Ernests Gulbis, effectively ending Jurgen Melzer’s hopes of making the cut.
Melzer, meanwhile, defeated Ferrer 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 to reach the last eight, but this hasn’t hampered Ferrer’s challenge. Qualification for London was made certain for Roddick, Ferrer and Berdych when Fernando Verdasco lost out to No. 12 seed Gael Monfils in three sets, 6-7, 7-6, 7-5.
Berdych will be making his first appearance at the prestigious end-of-season tournament this year, and this can be attributed to his improved performances in Slam events. Ferrer has been involved just once before, back in 2007, whilst Roddick has now qualified for an eighth successive season.
