The fourth seed dominated the rallies, and amazingly only lost five points on her serve in seven service games.
Speaking in her on-court interview after the match, Azarenka seemed very content with how things had panned out. "I feel great. I wasn't expecting to play so well in my first match here, it was getting close in the end, we had a really close last game. Sam started to really go for every shot with nothing to lose, and I backed up a little bit.”
“She made some incredible shots. But I stayed strong. I had to work for it. I'm glad I finished it when I did. I served very well today and I wish I can continue to play like this."
Stosur, on the other hand, felt that she could have avoided to rout if she’d taken a more aggressive approach. "I definitely feel like I didn't play aggressively enough. I don't feel like I did anything”, admitted the Aussie. "I kind of just got pushed around the court, and eventually was made to make an error, or she'd hit a winner."
