Justine Henin will be looking to cap a dream comeback with victory in the Australian Open final against Serena Williams.

Henin and Serena are old foes having played thirteen times in Henin’s previous career. For a while Serena had the edge, largely in terms of power but as Henin added progressively more bite to her game her record against her arch-rival improved, mainly due to her superior movement and consistency.

In 2007 Henin was Serena’s nemesis, defeating her in the quarter-finals of the French Open, Wimbledon and then the US Open.

Just a year later she shocked the world by retiring and now they are back facing each other again. Amazingly it is their first match in a grand slam final and it’s a delicious prospect.

Write Serena off at your peril and she is probably the best fighter the women’s game has ever seen but Henin looked in much better form in the semi-finals. Serena also appears to be struggling with all sorts of injuries going by the quantities of bandages she wears on court and she will need to be at 100% to defeat Henin.

Most bookies are rating this one as 50:50 but I have a feeling this will be Henin’s night.
