Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are the headliners for Day 9 from the 2011 Australian Open.
Roger Federer will be in action on Day 9 of the 2011 Australian Open as he will face Stanislas Wawrinka in their quarterfinal match. Novak Djokovic, the three seed at this year's Melbourne Park event, will face Tomas Berdych in another quarterfinal.
The winners of those two matches will meet in the semifinals later this week and most will likely be calling for Novak Djokovic to go through to meet Federer in that semi.
Djokovic owns a convincing hard court record against Berdych as they have met 4 times on that surface. Not only has the Serbian won all four of those matches but Berdych has only been able to take down one individual set in all of their matches.
Wawrinka has never beaten Federer on the hard court surface but then again rarely has the 19 seed been on such fantastic form in his career. Wawrinka and Federer both won ATP titles early in January and both have won 4 matches at the Australian Open this year. However Federer has not been efficient in winning as dropped sets to Gilles Simon and 1 dropped set to Tommy Robredo imply that Wawrinka, who is 12-0 in sets played at Melbourne this year, may challenge Federer more closely than in the past.
