These rankings factor in the last 52 weeks of ATP tennis, including the results from the 2011 Monte Carlo Masters.
The top 10 has hardly changed with the new rankings on Monday, April 18th. Rafael Nadal, after successfully defending his Monte Carlo title, is still on top of the world although even if he failed to defend his title he still would have been.
There have been some minor changes in the top ten but only toward the bottom of the list:
- Rafael Nadal
- Novak Djokovic
- Roger Federer
- Andy Murray
- Robin Soderling
- David Ferrer
- Tomas Berdych
- Jurgen Melzer
- Gael Monfils
- Mardy Fish
For Melzer and Fish, the April 18th rankings are personally historic as they have achieved career high rankings. For Fish, this is the first week in his long career where he has been in the top 10 while Melzer has also played his best tennis late in his career as he is now ranked 8th.
Fernando Verdasco, an early round casualty at Monte Carlo, is a reason why both Fish and Melzer jumped up as the Spaniard fell four spots from 8th to 12th.
