Andy Roddick takes on Robin Soderling in the night match at the Cincinnati Masters later today.

Neither player will be overjoyed at having to face each other so early in the tournament but with Roddick having slipped outside the top ten he is now in danger of getting these tough draws. Cincinnati has been a good tournament for him in the past, he won the title in 2003 and 2006.

Roddick smashed 30 winners on the way to a 7-6, 6-4 second round win over Thiemo De Bakker. He was happy with his tennis which was solid rather than spectacular but he said afterwards that his game plan had been to stay consistent and wear down the flashy Dutchman.
Soderling edged out Lleyton Hewitt 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 in another night match on Wednesday. He has never been past the third round at this tournament.  

Soderling leads their head-to-head 2-1 but Roddick won their most recent match, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in the semis of Indian Wells earlier this year.
