Andy Roddick plays Robin Soderling in the Brisbane International final on Sunday.
This year’s Brisbane International final will be contested by Andy Roddick and Robin Soderling, after the number one and two seeds both won their semi finals on Saturday.
Soderling is yet to drop a set so far in Brisbane and he will be strongly fancied. The world number 5 has began 2010 strongly, as he prepares for the upcoming Australian Open.
Roddick is the reigning champion in Brisbane and clearly enjoys playing at the Queensland Tennis Centre. He was put under pressure briefly by Kevin Anderson in the semi finals for the first time in the tournament, but recovered well to take the match 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 and will go into Sunday’s final confident of retaining his title.
The American has beaten Soderling in both their matches on outdoor hard courts so he will go in as the favourite. However given how well both players have been serving this week it is likely to come down to just a couple of points.
