Andy Roddick closes in on another Brisbane title as he plays Kevin Anderson in Saturday's semi-finals.
Roddick is the defending champion and the second seed has cruised into the last four with the minimum of fuss. In his three matches so far this week, the American has yet to lose his serve, or face a tie-breaker. Most impressive was his quarter-final win over Marcos Baghdatis. The Cypriot hopes to break back into the top ten this year but he was completely outclassed in every department.
South African Kevin Anderson has enjoyed one of his best weeks for some time, taking out sixth seed Feliciano Lopez 6-3, 6-1 in the second round.
However the match-up is a good one for Roddick as Anderson, who is 6ft 8in tall, has a game that is almost entirely based around serve. This suits the world number 8, who has made a career out of being an excellent server, but has also honed his return game so that he can crack opponents who play in a similar style to himself.
It should be another comfortable straight sets victory for Roddick and there are few people who would want to bet against him in the final, against either Robin Soderling or Radek Stepanek.
