Andy Roddick returns to the tour against Kevin Anderson at the China Open.
It's been another frustrating season injury-wise for Roddick but he's made the best of things, coming into the US Open extremely short on match fitness but he still managed to make it to the quarters, taking out David Ferrer in the process. It's left Roddick and his fans wondering what might have been if he'd been able to play a full summer schedule but he'll be hoping to finish the year well and get back in the top ten.
Roddick won the Beijing title in 2008 and it's a fairly open field this time around. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga goes in as favourite but Roddick will see no reason why he can't lift the title for a second time.
Facing a server like Anderson first up is never ideal as Andy Murray found to his cost in Montreal back in August but Roddick will be fully aware of the danger. The South African is enjoying a career year, winning his home event in Johannesburg back in February and rising to a career high ranking of 32.
They've played twice in 2011 already with Roddick running out a winner both times. It was close in the Brisbane semis but Roddick came through 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 and he prevailed again 6-4, 6-4 at Queens.
