Andy Roddick faces Gilles Simon in the third round of the Legg Mason Classic in Washington.

Roddick posted a solid second round win over qualifier Grega Zemlja on Tuesday night, dropping just nine points on serve in a 6-4, 6-4 win. It was a comfortable way for the second seed to ease his way into this tournament, he returned well and showed quite a bit of variety from the back of the court.

Roddick has a fine record in Washington, he's won the title three times and came runner-up last year to Juan Martin Del Potro.

Simon was very impressive in a 6-1, 6-2 win over Igor Kunitsyn. The Frenchman was established in the top ten a couple of years ago but has been plagued by injury. He's only playing his ninth tournament of the year due to a right knee injury he's struggled with since November.

However even when Simon was at his best, Roddick always had the edge. The American has won both of their matches, 6-4, 6-4 in Miami 2007 and 6-3, 7-5 in 2008. He will be odds on to post another straight sets win here.
