Andy Roddick is the strong odds-on favourite to beat Feliciano Lopez on Friday in the third round of Australian Open 2010.

The American, 1/10 to advance to the fourth round, goes into the match with questions over whether he can keep his cool throughout the tournament after blasting the chair umpire during Wednesday's second round win over Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci.

Roddick, who won the comfortably 6-3 6-4 6-4, was unhappy with Fergus Murphy for getting a call wrong.

“I’m standing there with my racket back — don’t you think I’m going to f****** hit it?’ Roddick told Murphy. “It’s not your job to predict if I’m going to hit it. It’s your job to decide if I could hit it.”

His outburst came after Murphy had ruled out a ball. Belucci challenged the decision, with the Hawkeye system ruling that the ball was in by a fraction of an inch.

Roddick refused to shake the Murphy's hand after the win but later apologised via Twitter. Tweeted an apology on Tweeter.

His opponent on Friday, Spaniard Lopez, is coming off impressive victories over Uruguayan Pablo Cuevas (6-1 6-4 7-5) and Rainer Schuettler of Germany (6-3 2-6 6-3 6-2).

The unseeded Spaniard has never gone further than the third round here, last making it to this stage in 2006.

Lopez, a member of the 2009 champion Spanish Davis Cup team, has lost all of the five games he has played against Roddick and it would be a tough ask for him to end that losing streak on Friday, which is reflected in the betting with the 28-year-old 11/2 to progress to the fourth round.
