Andy Roddick and Robin Soderling have joined the casualty list for next week's Montreal Masters.
Roddick's injury woes continue and the oblique muscle injury which forced him out of the Legg Mason Classic will also keep him out of the first Masters Series event of the summer.
He's just one of several top players suffering from injuries at the moment and the field in Canada will be a depleted one. Robin Soderling and David Ferrer are both struggling with wrist injuries and Ferrer in particular is a big doubt for the US Open after suffering a hairline fracture from a fall in training.
Jurgen Melzer had to withdraw from his second round match against Donald Young in Washington with a left quad injury and it will also keep the Austrian from making the trip north to Canada.
Guillermo Garcia-Lopez (appendicitis) and Xavier Malisse (personal) are also out of the tournament.
Roddick has had little luck with the Canadian Masters in recent years. Twelve months ago he was enduring a bout of mono which had afflicted him for much of the summer. It's been a frustrating time for the American who feels that he can still get back in the top five with a prolonged clean bill of health.
"Hopefully I'll be ready for cincy in 10 days or so.... Fingers crossed," Roddick informed his followers on Twitter.
