Opportunities for another Slam for Roddick are dwindling.

Andy Roddick is believed to be a longshot for each of the four Grand Slams in 2010.

Here are his odds for each of the four majors as well as our recommended bets.

Australian Open, +3300 (33/1), Sportingbet
French Open, +20000 (200/1), Stan James
Wimbledon, +1600 (16/1), Paddy Power
Us Open, +2500 (25/1), Paddy Power

No matter where you bet Andy Roddick in the upcoming year of Slams you are working with a longshot.  When betting longshots what you typically want to do is find a betting line that has been left too long and just sprinkle it cautiously.

The first thing to realize with Roddick is that you should not bet him to win in Paris.  Even if his odds to win in Roland Garros at 200 to 1 look fantastic for such a highly ranked player on tour, Roddick has never made it past the 4th round of the French Open and he has only made it past the second round on two occasions.

If Roddick bumps into somebody like Philipp Kohlschreiber in the 3rd round of the French, Roddick could easily lose.

Roddick's won his only Slam at the US Open but you do not want to bet Roddick that late in the year.  He has called for the tennis season to be shortened and that is a hint that he doesn't have the energy for the long season anymore.  Events late in the year are not where he should be expected to persevere and he did get bounced in the third round this past summer in Flushing Meadows.

Consider Roddick as a dark horse for the Australian Open and for Wimbledon.  He had excellent results at those two events in 2009, making the semis in Melbourne while making the finals of Wimbledon.  At the long odds provided above there is at least a little bit of value for the American star.
