Andy Murray is wary of the threat Robin Soderling could possess when they meet in Friday’s Indian Wells quarter-finals.

The two players had some tight scraps early on in Murray’s career but they have not played since 2006.

Since then both have gone on to reach the top ten and make grand slam finals and Murray has plenty of respect for Soderling’s game.

"He's a very, very tough player because he's got big game serves,” Murray said after beating Nicholas Almagro.

Murray then made a sneaky attempt to influence the order of play, revealing that he would rather play the match during the day.

"His first serve is very, very good. Normally serves a high percentage, so it might be beneficial to play it in the wind against him during the day. But he's definitely a tough player," Murray said.
