Andy Murray begins his Shanghai Masters campaign against wildcard Yan Bai.

Murray did not have the best preparation last week, losing tamely in straight sets to Ivan Ljubicic in the Beijing quarters but the British player can never be counted out indoors, the surface where he has won most of his ATP titles.

Murray has disappointed since winning the Toronto Masters back at the beginning of August, particularly in New York where he went in as one of the favourites. He will be hoping for a strong finish to the year but he needs some good performances to hang on to the number four spot in the rankings ahead of Robin Soderling.

This is a nice opening match for Murray as 21 year old Bai is ranked 465 in the world and has only played a handful of matches on the ATP Tour. He stunned Radek Stepanek 6-3, 6-4 in the opening round but he is likely to come down to earth against the fourth seed.
